The programme is open to pupils from any school. The only restriction is age: we welcome children from Year 9 to Year 12.

Yes. The programme is fully co-educational and we encourage applications from all children of eligible age.

The programme assumes no prior knowledge, although the pace is fast and intended to be challenging. Pupils studying any combination of subjects are therefore welcome and able to succeed, with the expectation that it is an academically intense week for all.

No advance work is required. During the week we set short familiarisation tasks each evening to brief participants on the next day's speakers. In the latter part of the week, many teams choose to work on their case study materials at home, but this is not mandatory.

The prizes have mostly sentimental value, but they are highly coveted by participants each year.

All participants are issued with branded King's Business School materials, usually including a bag, folder, notepad and pen, and an insulated water bottle; this may vary from year to year. Every participant also receives a certificate and a class photograph at the end of the week. All of this is included in the course fee.

We operate a rolling applications cycle and close the entry form once all places have been filled. The programme is generally oversubscribed, so early application is advisable.

Permission to miss school to attend King's Business School rests with the participant's own school, which has the final say on whether an absence can be approved. Many schools do choose to authorise absence for the business school and treat the week as a work experience placement. We are happy to complete work placement paperwork if needed.

We will consider all applications, but the programme is generally oversubscribed and priority is given to those who can attend the whole course. No pro rata pricing is available; the full course fee is payable for all participants.

Through generous charitable funding, we are able to offer a number of free places to pupils at King's partner schools, or to pupils in receipt of a full bursary at an independent school. Further details are shared directly with eligible schools. Given the high demand for these places, we generally request a short video in support of the application.

We are working hard to keep the business school as cost-effective as possible, and as the programme grows we are able to pass on economies of scale. As a guide, the course fee in 2026 was £990 including VAT. We will announce the 2027 fee in the autumn term of 2026.

For pupils at King's, or their siblings at other schools, the course deposit and remaining balance are added to your King's fees invoice. For pupils at other schools, payment is by invoice and made by bank transfer. Places are not secured until payment is received.

A deposit of 50% of the course fee is payable on enrolment and is non-refundable. The remaining balance is payable by 1st May 2027. Late applications, eg in the summer term, must pay the full course fee to secure the place. Places are awarded to named individuals and cannot be transferred to another child or deferred to a future year.

Arrival each morning is from 8.40am at the Glencairn Gate off the Ridgway, and departure is at 4.00pm via the same gate. On the final Friday, the drinks reception begins at 4.00pm, so parents and participants may wish to plan to stay until around 4.30pm.

We are sorry to say that no parking is available for participants or contributors throughout the programme.

Participants are asked to wear business casual attire, eg shirts without ties and smart trousers such as chinos. In hot weather this policy will be slightly relaxed, although sportswear and flip flops are not acceptable.

Notes and classwork are completed by hand throughout the week, unless a participant's normal way of working at school is on a laptop due to an access arrangement. In the second half of the week, laptops are permitted for work on the case study, although one or two per group of five is generally sufficient; we therefore do not expect every participant to bring one. Guest wifi access will be provided for pupils not at King's.

The programme is professionally catered, and the course fee includes a morning snack and a hot lunch each day, as well as a drinks reception on the final afternoon. Most common allergies and dietary requirements can be easily accommodated, and we will ask for details on application.

Any participant who carries an auto-injector for a severe allergy must bring it in each day.

We consider lunch an important part of the networking opportunity offered by the programme, and in the latter part of the week case study teams will often have a working lunch to fine-tune their presentations. We therefore do not permit participants to leave the campus at lunchtime.

In principle yes, although this is very rare. Particular care must be taken to ensure that any food brought into the school is free from nuts, including sesame and pine nuts.
